Barge / Paris 6

100 sqm / Dutch barge Nooit / Paris 6
Total restructuration / Architecture / Interior Design

A rare and historic Tjalk barge transformed into a charming residence on the Seine river in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Special care was taken in using lightweight materials for this floating home in the heart of Paris. The helm station has been completely renovated, and an outdoor terrace has been created for enjoying city life.

Fire-resistant and high quality finishes were used in this cleverly designed project. An artist-painter collaborated to create decorative mahogany wood-like finishes on all the woodwork. The custom kitchen was precisely fitted to optimise the limited space. They even managed to integrate a fireplace into the project!

Dark tones reminiscent of traditional maritime wood are brightened by ultra-light Bisazza brand mosaics in green and red textiles. Despite technical constraints such as integrated storage in the boat’s structure, this project achieved a harmonious decor.

This traditional barge was used for river transport for around one hundred years, and its transformation into an eclectic living space required clever tricks and patience. Today, this barge is a historic monument and enjoys an exceptional location. This tailor-made project is authentic down to every detail.
